DOG REPORT

A pleasure and honour for an outsider to judge the 62 males at this friendly well organised event. My limit and Open classes had real depth of quality and I was delighted with the unbeaten line-up! One or two a not correct in shoulders that restricted front movement and several with not the hind action I was looking for and not acceptable to my eye! The stand is quite clear Absolute soundness is essential and the dog must be fit for function. Free, smooth and tireless, with minimum lift of feet, just a little tip knocking the tail down with your hands when on the move, only draws the judges attention to incorrect tail set and carriage , much more important is could the dog do the job he was bred to do? So breed type , construction and correct movement is top of my list.

BIS was the male Fawcett, CH Laceways Photo Finish. RES BIS and BV, was also the male Gowing, Wildblue it’s the Business ( imp USA) SH CM. Best male Puppy, Alkester/Wiltshire/Carter, Thwaitlake All Fired Up. With BPIS going to the lovely bitch Greens, Fayken I am Love , who's sire I have given a CC and delighted to see he can produce credit also to her CH Dam , I thought she looked lovely.  I was delighted to see again the bitch CC CH Laceways Wiggly Giggly taking her 4th cc having given her ,her 1st CC. this making a super double for this clever young breeder, congratulations.

RESULTS :-

VD (7)1a, What a good class to start with.

1st Res CC, Wildblue it’s the Business (imp USA) SH CM . Did not think at this stage he would end up with the Res CC but the more I looked the more He Appealed, Shouts breed type loved his size shape and balance, lovely head dark eye ex bite that were clean! Good neck straight front correct bone and feet. Deep chest and tight elbows, correct angulation both back and front in ex coat and condition and that easy sound typical breed action was always going to impress me .Had to be on Top form as the dog stood 2nd The week before I had given a huge Veteran Stakes! I have to ask why are these two males not Champions?

2nd  Stacey, Bilyara Orapa SH CM , the critique I gave last week I stand By ! Should be a Champion.

3rd Den Dekker, From Borders Home Magic Blue Moon , this brown & White also a lovely quality strong backline pleasing head shape in ex condishion , perhaps not quite the front as the 1st two but much to like and he does move freely and well.

Vintage Dog (1)

1st Young, Llynellen Meadow Sage, remarkable 10 year old, I have no intention of being critical, he's fit and healthy, masculine , with lots to like, and a rock hard topline a real credit to his caring loving owner.

MPD (3) 1a

1st Reeds, Birkcross Heart Of Gold. Interesting breeding, just 6 month and a little raw as it should be, but its all there, quality , breed type and good movement, head still developing, ex bite, good eye ex bone and feet. Shapely body still developing as it should be and he's sound , love to see him in 12 months I thought he shows huge promise.

2nd Fanton, Cashindie Too Charming For Rykavar, quality, older and naturally further on , but not quite the movement of my winner, masculine, like the head expression ,ex bite brown eye of good colour. Pleasing neck, shapely body at this stage they change weekly.

PD ( 7) 1a

1st BOSP. Thwaitlake All Fired Up. Loved this youngster, its all there. Quality ,breed type and the best mover in the class. Masculine head good eye ex bite. Super body qualities correct bone good feet, so important in any working breed. Tight elbows and strong quarters ,he  was in super body condition and his coat just shone with health and care. So well handled to show off that ground covering action. Sure to have an exciting future I thought him a top class puppy, time will tell.

Bitch Results

Many thanks to the club for the honour of judging at your show and for the wonderful hospitality, also many thanks go to my stewards Tracey and Sue for making my ring run smoothly.  I am concerned about the quality of the bitches, always much better than the males but now seems to some extent to be falling.  However, having said that I was pleased with my line-ups. I also noticed some round eyes creeping in and short tails are still prevalent, also a lack of upper arm which hinders forward extension.  Presentation was excellent with only one dirty dog presented.
